The 2010 carnival was even bigger than ever and the sun shone down on us yet again. Every one had a wonderful day and profits go to the upkeep of the Parish Hall, which is run as a charity for the village.
Our grateful thanks go to
- The WI for keeping us all going with their tea and cakes
- Southgate stores for manning the bars and ices
- All those who manned the stalls and games
- The early birds, who helped to set up the field on Saturday, and cleaned up on Sunday morning,
- The many local businesses, who donated monies and prizes for the procession, fancy dress and the games etc.
We are also helped by many local organisations who come and do their bit for free, The Wiseman dance troop,
Bishopston Community Choir, Swansea Fencing Club, the Taran drum band, Bishopston Leisure Services and
Bishopston Comprehensive School Orchestra.

Without these groups we would not be able to put on such a variety of items. This is a community carnival and
without the community pulling together it just would not happen.

Our thanks also go to the Pennard Community Charity for their financial support each year, in covering the cost of
the marquee. Their assistance reduces the risks associated with being rained off.

Our committee is small and three have decided to resign this year. The success of the carnival depends on a
lively committee to organise it all as well as the volunteers on the day. If we do not get some more people on
the committee then next year’s carnival will have to be greatly curtailed. My hope is that we can expand the
committee and reduce the workloads for every member on it.
